Administration Building

In this new generation educational levels have improved and nine year compulsory education is already insufficient to meet the present educational demands of our citizens. In 1999, a school admission diversity program was implemented for vocational students entering high school. The goal of this plan was to improve the opportunities and avenues for middle school graduates to continue their education. There is also a necessity to for students with physical and mental disabilities to be able to continue their education and participate in higher levels of education. Unfortunately, because these students often lack mental and physical maturity, there is a limit to the career molding and training they can receive. Those with no disabilities have a difficult time finding a vocation in this quickly changing society. This is even more so for the group of middle school graduates with mental and physical disabilities. It would be difficult for us to imagine the feeling of failure and frustration they must deal with.

It is for this reason that in 2001 the Ministry of Education proposed the “Mentally and Physically Challenged Student 20 Year Study Arrangement” which was a 4 year plan. In 2002 this was revised and renamed as the “Complete Educational Advancement Counseling Method in National Education for Mentally and Physically Challenged Students.” It is hoped all mentally and physically challenged students who have graduated from middle school will be able to continue on and attend high school or vocational high school, and receive a complete 3 years of appropriate high school education in order to acquire the skills necessary to adapt to learning, society, and work.

In order to allow an early intervention program to take root, the school has set up a preschool program and hopes that, through this early intervention program, we can extend the scope of our special education program and provide service for families which require it sooner, in addition to providing more complete service. The school wholeheartedly welcomes the parents of mentally or physically challenged children who will be entering pre-school, grade school, middle school, and high school to enroll your child at National Yunlin Special School. It is our desire that our teachers work with parents together strive to assist these students on the road of life. We want their progress on this road to be steady, and that they can have peace of mind in their lives. For this we are grateful to the hard work and dedication of the special education teachers for each stage of education. Because of your assistance in transitional education, their lives become richer and more interesting.
